Madison, Wis. – “It’s about people.” is more than a slogan at National Guardian Life Insurance Company (NGL); it’s a belief that is ingrained in the company culture and carried throughout its employees. During a recent trip to Mexico, the NGL team gave local children at La Escuelita de Sonia shoes and backpacks filled with needed school supplies. The backpacks contained notebooks, pencils, markers, colored pencils, paper, tape and staplers.

The NGL team also had the opportunity to meet with the students ranging in age from 5 to 15 years old. They spent time getting to know the students and playing games, including beach games, basketball, ring toss and soccer.

“There are no words to describe how I felt watching the children’s faces light up with joy and excitement when they received their backpacks,” said Judy Olson, NGL Assistant Vice President and Director of Partner Support. “Our contributions will make a difference and create opportunities for growth and development for the children at La Escuelita de Sonia.”

In addition to donating backpacks for the students, NGL donated $500 for the school to use on materials that will help support the students’ learning experience.
